| Greetings to one and all!
In the course of the second term, Parkwood achieved many note-worthy landmarks. It was a term in which, both academics and extra-curricular activities remained the focus of all our endeavours.
It is my pleasant duty to keep you updated on what happened during this short, but an exciting term.

Opening Moves
The beginning of a new term is as thrilling as the conclusion of the previous term. It was great to see students catching up with friends after the holiday break and sharing their experiences.
In the lead up to our Annual Day programme, we had a brain storming session along with the children to decide on the various items. It was ensured that all the children got the opportunity to participate at least in one item. The practice sessions were scheduled in such a manner that the academic schedule was not unduly affected. We believed in the maxim ‘Slow and steady wins the race.’

| A time to play, a time to win On the 26th of January, Parkwood had its own humble celebration of Republic Day.
We not only acknowledged the sacrifices made by our great leaders in ensuring that India became truly independent, but also celebrated the spirit of harmony that binds us all as one family. The day started early in the morning with the formal March Past followed by Flag Hoisting. The matches and the competitions of the day proved to be the deciding factors in determining the overall champions for Sports. These included the track events, kabaddi, throw ball, basketball and football matches. Needless to say, our athletic children sprinted and played to the best of their capacities to increase the tally of their house points. Finally, Trust House walked away with the overall championship.

| Festival time
At Parkwood, we celebrated some major festivals in our own way. On Sankranti, the children along with a few teachers made the traditional Rangoli. There was the rain dance on Holi. A visit to the renowned Chilkur Balaji marked the Shivarathiri celebrations. But what was remained more significant was the spirit with which these festivals were celebrated. Traditions do have a place at Parkwood. |
Esprit 2006 – Annual Day Celebrations of Parkwood
The word ‘Esprit’ refers to the joy and spirit with which something is celebrated.
This was the feeling with which all our children participated in the Annual Day Programme, which was aptly entitled as Esprit.
The programme started with the Annual Report after the prayer. The activities of the year were summarized and our Academic Head introduced our Chairman Dr. S E Hasnain to the Parkwood family. He is currently serving as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad.
The show saw a unique blend of tradition and individual talent along with variety and thoughtfulness. The highlight of the show was Fiddler on the Roof. This musical, set during the Russian Revolution, spoke about hope and acceptance even during troubled times.

The other noteworthy performance was by the participants of Amrapali. This was a historical dance drama based on the life of the courtesan Amrapali, who later adopted the path of non-violence.
The chief guest for the day,Prof D. Balasubramaniam, Director, L V Prasad Eye Institute, remarked that schools were the centers where children learnt not only ‘how to earn marks but also good remarks’. He commended the combination of the conventional and the modern elements in the show and wished the school good luck in all its future endeavours.
The Prize Distribution was a 20-minute affair, with most of the children and the teachers of Parkwood being recognized for all their achievements. Patience House won the overall championship for the academic year with the maximum tally of house points. Of course, even the parents who took part in the 21 km Parkwood Night Trek Challenge were in for a pleasant surprise when they received their certificates for successful completion and participation.
The success of the programme could be attributed to the fact that all the children got the opportunity to participate according to their calibre and potential.
We would like to appreciate the co-operation of all the parents who responded to our invitation and spent the evening with us. |
| Time for Academics
The Annual Examinations started on the 7th of April. The entire month of March was devoted to the preparation for the exams. This included revision tests, additional preps and recharge work. And true to our expectations, our children have performed well. On 16th of April, we had the parent- teacher meeting, during which feedback was provided to the parents about the performance of their wards. The school closed for thesummer vacation on the 16th of April.

| Bidding Adieu!
Our first batch of Grade 10 children have completed their board exams. It was with a heavy heart that all of us at Parkwood bid them a warm farewell. They were leaders in the true spirit and have left us with many unforgettable memories. We wish all the very best to Jizlan, Adnaan, Owais, Nikhil, and Nishant in all their future endeavours. May God shower his choicest blessings on them and may they meet with success in whatever they do.
Signing off!
This term has been a very short one. Nevertheless, it presented a lot of opportunities for our children to reveal their potential and talents. It has also opened us to a world of possibilities for future progress.
We hope that the Almighty continues to shower his blessings on the entire Parkwood community, as we look forward to another year of learning and fun at Parkwood.
Until then,
With warm regards,
Ayesha Tanveer
Academic Head
